December 07, 2020 One of the greatest delights of the holiday season is the opportunity to see marvelous decorations adorning homes and businesses all across town. Some are flamboyant displays of spinning snowmen and life-size rooftop reindeer; some are more subtle arrangements of evergreen, tinsel, and twinkling lights; and some are much more radically experimental. Into the last category falls the Illuminate San Francisco Festival of Light, a nearly two-month event that has brought breathtaking light installations to the city for eight years running. Forty unique installations have been erected in various neighborhoods across San Francisco, taking place from Thanksgiving until January 23, 2021. This year's festival coincides with the Golden Gate Park’s 150th-anniversary celebration, which will feature whimsical light installations at Peacock Meadow.
