2010 Winemaker Dinner Series

The Duck Club Restaurant's wine program is renowned for its ongoing Winemaker's Dinner Series. Each event features a presentation from the winemaker and a specially prepared, multi-course meal that highlights the showcased wines. Winemaker Dinners have included Duckhorn Vineyards, Cakebread Cellars, Sonoma-Cutrer, DuMol Winery, Schramsberg Vineyards, Grgich Hills Estate, and many others.

Our next special event is our B.R. Cohn Winemaker Dinner on Friday, March 26, 2010, and will feature Estate Manager Valerie Cohn herself discussing their fine wines, and a wine-pairing menu especially prepared by Executive Chef Chuck Courtney. B.R. Cohn's fine olive oils will also be prominently featured!

The Duck Club Restaurant embraces guests with a warm, Old World elegance that is reminiscent of an 18th century European hunting club. Executive Chef Chuck Courtney has created a menu with an array of approachable dishes featuring refined contemporary cuisine, with a focus on the freshest seasonal, regional and organic ingredients and choice seafood and steaks. The Duck Club Restaurant's wine program focuses on fine California wines, presented in a mahogany walk-in cellar.

The Bistro at the Park is a lively neighborhood gathering place, featuring familiar food and drinks. The Bistro is renowned for its warm atmosphere, large stone fireplace and friendly service. The menu highlights fresh, local ingredients and the bar has one of the largest selections of wines by the glass and regional microbrews in the San Francisco East Bay, as well as being the proud and regular winner of such accolades as "The Best Martini" and "The Best Cosmopolitan" in the area.

Monthly Wine Tasting
Featured Wine of the Month
Starting on the first Wednesday of every month, both the Duck Club Restaurant and The Bistro at the Park feature a "Wine of the Month," and offer special tastings and wine-by-the-glass programs of this featured winery.

No-Corkage Wednesdays
Bring your favorite bottle of wine to dinner at the Duck Club Restaurant on Wednesday nights, and we will waive the corkage fee (limit one bottle per table please).

If you would like something as simple as a perfectly brewed pot of tea to enjoy by your fireplace, breakfast in bed, or a late-night snack, we will be happy to bring our gourmet fare directly to you.

Executive Chef Chuck Courtney
Under Chef Courtney's expert direction since 2006, all of the cuisine at the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa is comprised of fresh, innovative dishes. His culinary approach is to create food that is delicious, contemporary and dedicated to using sustainable and locally grown ingredients.

"The San Francisco Bay Area has such an abundance of fresh, organic food, it is a pleasure to create meals that use the bounty of our area," says Chef Courtney. "We also offer a generous wine list that focuses on the great wine regions of Northern California."

Before coming to the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa, Courtney was the Executive Chef at Citron in the 4-star, Viceroy Hotel in Palm Springs where he won numerous accolades from Wine Spectator, The New York Times and Bon Appetit. Chef Courtney earned his Culinary Arts Degree from the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon.
